Holidays to Syros
Getting to Syros
Flights
Flights are available into Syros from Athens most days throughout the summer months. Flights are with Sky Express and are usually a morning flight, which would either require the overnight flight into Athens or an overnight stay. The return flights usually connect in with flights back to the UK very well.
Ferries
A number of ferries operate from Piraeus to Syros and there is always at least one ferry per day (usually 2-3). As this is one of the premier ferry routes in the Aegean, the boats are usually a good quality and you have the choice of economy or business class on the boats.

The Grand Old Dame of the Cyclades
Our first view of this enchanting island was back in 1992. As we trundled past the northern edge of the island on the old Panagia Tinou ferry from Piraeus (the boats are much faster these days), we turned to each other and asked ourselves what have we done coming here?
We needn't have worried. Although the island is very barren in places, its a real gem with oasis's of greenery in the inland villages and some wonderful beaches at Vari, Galissas and Kini.
The capital Hermoupolis is an eclectic mix of business, culture and day to day life. Rising as two hills from one of the deepest ports in the Aegean, the left hill is Ano Syros (Roman Catholic) and the right hill is Vrontado (Greek Orthadox) and the whole town is the best preserved example of 19th century neo-classicism in the whole of Greece.
Nowadays, the island is blessed with good links to Athens with ferries running generally at least twice a day and flights most days as well. There is also excellent links to other islands nearby such as Tinos, Mykonos and Paros and more often than not you can do day trips to these islands.
Given that the island is the administrative capital of the Cyclades, it has a hustle and bustle that is not driven by tourism and this has led to a wonderful culture of cafes, bars and tavernas spread along the waterfront and back streets.
For travel to Syros, we recommend either flying into Athens or Mykonos and transferring from there.

Happy People
The team have booked three very different holidays for me, two for a couple and one for a group of nine. They listened to our requirements and used their expert knowledge of Greece to provide us with several options from which to choose. I found them to be very professional, nothing is too much trouble and they strive to find a good deal. I would not hesitate to recommend them. The business has booked me a few different holidays ranging from 2 weeks away in the sun to City Breaks. They have a great knowledge and understanding of your needs and requirements when booking a holiday. They always try to accommodate your budget and work extremely hard to get you what you're asking for. They have an extremely good knowledge of the Greek Islands and never fail when recommending specific places. I would always recommend the team as they are helpful and professional at all times. |
Fantastic service. I explained what kind of holiday I was looking for and my budget and they came up with different options to choose from. Nothing was too much trouble and the communication was first class. I would definitely recommend and would not hesitate in using this 5 star service again.
