Flights to Tinos
Tinos doesn't have an airport so we recommend travelling into Mykonos and taking the ferry from there. Another option is to fly into Athens and taking the ferry from Rafina or Piraeus.
Ferries to Tinos
If you travel via Mykonos, we will advise which port in Mykonos the boat goes from (the bigger ferries go from the new port and the small ferries from the old port). If you travel via Athens, then we will advise if your ferry is departing from Rafina or Piraeus. Generally there are approximately 5 ferries per day in each direction.
Tinos Accommodation
Accommodation on Tinos varies from small 2* studios through to family run pensions and hotels with a few boutique hotels as well. Let us know your preferred option and we can source the right accommodation for your needs and budget.

The Lourdes of Greece
Tinos is a modern day sacred island where the Greeks are concerned. A popular local tale is that there is a hole in the ozone layer which gives the inhabitants of Tinos a direct line to the Almighty. There are chapels everywhere, with one chapel for every 10 inhabitants on the island. On the 15th August every year, thousands descend on Tinos (if you are travelling around this time make sure your ferry is booked well in advance) for the festival of the Panagia where the icon is carried around the town by sailors and is accompanied by a military band and national dignitaries. The Pilgrims all stretch to stroke the idol and some of the most religious women crawl from the ferry to the church on all fours which is a raw and moving site.
The festivals also honour the sinking of the Greek naval cruise Elli which was hit by a torpedo whilst at anchor off the coast of Tilos on 15th August 1940. The sailors onboard were participating in the religious celebrations at the time.
Nowadays Tinos, has a carnival atmosphere with inns and tavernas stretching along the waterfront and there are some decent beaches on the island. These are all accessible by the local bus service.
