Classical Crete

At 160 miles long and up to 37 miles wide, Crete is the largest island in Greece, and the 5th largest in the whole Mediterranean.

There really is everything available on Crete, with the wild interior having such gems as the Samaria Gorge, historical sites of Knossos and Spinalonga, the amazing beaches of Balos and Elafonissos, the hidden southern resorts of Louvre and Chora Sfakion, and the cosmpotolitan feel of Chania... we really could go on and on.

Let us know what your interests are while on holiday, and we can put together a dream Crete itinerary.

Eastern or Western?

Eastern Crete
A harbour in Eastern Crete
Eastern Crete is more aimed at the mass tourist market, with the major airport at Heraklion serving as the main gateway. The capital city itself is a mix of ancient heritage, modern shops, and lively nightlife, giving visitors plenty to do. Along the north-east coast, many resorts cater to those seeking vibrant nightlife, but Crete is far more than just that.

The island’s history is on full display at the Palace of Knossos, steeped in myths of Minotaurs and labyrinths, while modern attractions such as the Thalassokosmos Aquarium and the former leper colony of Spinalonga are also well worth visiting. The Elounda area offers some of the most sophisticated hotels in Europe, blending luxury with the island’s natural beauty.

Head further east toward Sitia, and you encounter the “real” Crete again: traditional tavernas, charming accommodation, and an atmosphere that feels untouched by mass tourism. With so many options, it can be hard to choose where to stay or what to do, but Eastern Crete truly offers something for everyone – from history and culture to beaches, fine dining, and laid-back island life.

Western Crete
A seafront in Western Crete
Western Crete is more rugged and less commercialised than the east, offering a different kind of holiday experience. The island’s mountains divide it, creating distinct landscapes and climates, while its beaches and warm seas make it perfect for both relaxation and adventure.

Highlights here include the Samaria Gorge, the villages of the White Mountains, the stunning Elafonisi beach, and Chania’s picturesque harbour. The Cretan diet and local cuisine are also not to be missed, giving visitors a real taste of traditional island life.

For those seeking a slower pace, the south-west offers remote gems such as Paleochora and Loutro, where life moves gently and the crowds are few. Whatever you choose, Western Crete has something for everyone, whether it’s exploring, relaxing, or a bit of both.

Happy People

Chris and Ian, We just wanted to say a massive thank you for organising our holiday to Athens and Crete. The hotels were fantastic, in particular the Athens location was superb; the ferry accommodation was an added bonus and all the transfers were extremely professional.  Your bookings and your organisation of the paperwork made everything so easy for us and we simply had the most perfect holiday. We would definitely use you again and have already recommended you to several people.

The team have booked three very different holidays for me, two for a couple and one for a group of nine. They listened to our requirements and used their expert knowledge of Greece to provide us with several options from which to choose. I found them to be very professional, nothing is too much trouble and they strive to find a good deal. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

The business has booked me a few different holidays ranging from 2 weeks away in the sun to City Breaks. They have a great knowledge and understanding of your needs and requirements when booking a holiday. They always try to accommodate your budget and work extremely hard to get you what you're asking for. They have an extremely good knowledge of the Greek Islands and never fail when recommending specific places. I would always recommend the team as they are helpful and professional at all times.
