Island atmosphere on the mainland?..........
You would think Parga was an island to see it on a postcard but actually it is known as the prettiest village on the mainland (this of course is a subjective view to any Greek person).
The town has a lovely harbour area with cobbled street and whitewashed houses and the traditional bougainvillea growing everywhere.
Out of high season (July and August), tourism stays fairly low-key but in the summer months the vibrant nightlife becomes apparent, when you can dance until dawn.
There are good beaches nearby, some of which are reached by water taxi (Sarakiniko) and many of them also have watersports.
There is also a variety of day trips available to Meteora, Corfu, Paxos and even Albania. A particularly popular trip is to Gliki, where you can marvel at the stunning gorge and even swim in the river Acheron.
So for an island atmosphere, with a bit of life, but with no ferry crossings required, try Parga. It may just surprise you.

One hour further up the coast from Parga is the resort of Sivota. Located in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, Sivota certainly compliments it’s surroundings.
Completely unspoilt and surrounded by pine and cypress forests, olive groves and small, secluded sandy coves it’s a relaxed way of life in the town.
The bay is virtually landlocked and so provides one of the safest havens in the Ionian Sea, hence the reason why the marina is often full with luxurious yachts.
The same harbour is also a popular place for the sunset, whilst partaking in a cocktail (ask for a Mastihito – a Greek version of a Mojito, but with the local Greek liqueur Mastihca rather than rum). There are also some excellent restaurants nearby.
There are truly some great beaches nearby and plenty of day trips available.
Sivota is an excellent choice for those who don’t mind a bit of a transfer from the airport, want it slightly more low-key on the nightlife front but don’t want a ferry onto an island.

The team have booked three very different holidays for me, two for a couple and one for a group of nine. They listened to our requirements and used their expert knowledge of Greece to provide us with several options from which to choose. I found them to be very professional, nothing is too much trouble and they strive to find a good deal. I would not hesitate to recommend them. The company has booked me a few different holidays ranging from 2 weeks away in the sun to City Breaks. They have a great knowledge and understanding of your needs and requirements when booking a holiday. They always try to accommodate your budget and work extremely hard to get you what you're asking for. They have an extremely good knowledge of the Greek Islands and never fail when recommending specific places. I would always recommend the team as they are helpful and professional at all times. |
Fantastic service. I explained what kind of holiday I was looking for and my budget and they came up with different options to choose from. Nothing was too much trouble and the communication was first class. I would definitely recommend and would not hesitate in using this 5 star service again.
