Maybe it was true as there are traces of the many civilisations that called this place home. The classical temples, palaces, fortresses and Byzantine cities all point to it being the case.
This is where Greece shines through – the food is amongst the best in the country, the regions vineyards provide some of the new guard of Greek wines that are winning awards but most importantly the ‘filoxenia’ or hospitality really is visible here.
There are so many parts to the region, which is separated from the rest of the Greek mainland by the Corinth Canal.
