Classical with a modern twist..........
Athens has it all – the history, the drama, Ancient Greece, the Olympics and we could go on and on.
But modern day Athens is a different story and makes for a great city break, especially now low cost flights have hit the market.
It doesn’t even have to be summer as it is not unfrequent that Athens still hits the 20s as late as November.
As well as the traditional sites such as the Acropolis, Parthenon, Syntagma Square and Monisteraki, Athens has experienced some real regeneration in certain areas such as Gazi and along with Kolonaki and Kifissia, these are now the places to be seen.
Just to the north of Athens, coastal towns such as Nea Makri with its waterside cafes and tavernas make for an enjoyable day out.
In the city itself, modern winebars and a huge variety of restaurants leave you spoilt for choice and if you are out of season then there are always good deals to be had on the accommodation.
The Athenian Riviera is the playground for the rich and famous of Athens and is becoming a holiday destination in its own right.
50 kilometres of fantastic beaches (many with Blue Flag awards), chic seafront towns with lively nightlife and swish restaurants, great public transport, ease of getting to and the proximity of the capital make this a really great place to enjoy a vacation, particularly if you don’t have a lot of time.
At the very tip of the Athenian Riviera is Cape Sounion, site of the world famous Temple of Poseidon which is an amazing place to visit for sunrise or sunset.
Alimos, Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Lagonissi ,Saronia and Anavyssos all have the perfect combination of swimming, shopping, dining and more.
There are also many marinas in the area and so it is popular to go out for the day on one of the many boat trips.
For golfing fans, there is the modern Glyfada Golf Club.
The star beach is Asteras Vouliagmenas which since 1959 is the beach to be seen on!
Why not come and see if the historical and modern day cities have blended together to make it somewhere you will enjoy.

Happy People
We just wanted to say a massive thank you for organising our holiday to Athens and Crete. The hotels were fantastic, in particular the Athens location was superb; the ferry accommodation was an added bonus and all the transfers were extremely professional. Your bookings and your organisation of the paperwork made everything so easy for us and we simply had the most perfect holiday. We would definitely use you again and have already recommended you to several people. The team have booked three very different holidays for me, two for a couple and one for a group of nine. They listened to our requirements and used their expert knowledge of Greece to provide us with several options from which to choose. I found them to be very professional, nothing is too much trouble and they strive to find a good deal. I would not hesitate to recommend them. The company has booked me a few different holidays ranging from 2 weeks away in the sun to City Breaks. They have a great knowledge and understanding of your needs and requirements when booking a holiday. They always try to accommodate your budget and work extremely hard to get you what you're asking for. They have an extremely good knowledge of the Greek Islands and never fail when recommending specific places. I would always recommend the team as they are helpful and professional at all times. |
