One of the windsurfing capitals..........
Lefkas (sometimes known as Lefkada) is one of those islands which offers a great deal of variety. It has mountain villages for exploring to beach resorts for relaxing. Like it's northerly cousin of Corfu, it also had British rule until 1864.
Whilst the main town has had repeated earthquakes in history, this leads to interesting back streets to explore.
One sight you will see, particularly in Vasiliki, is a lot of windsurfers and the village has even hosted world championship events for the sport.
The main resort is Nidri, which is located on the east coast and is where the majority of the accommodation is housed. The famous beach of Porto Katsiki is located in Lefkas and has been voted consistently one of the best beaches in the Mediterranean.
Agios Nikitas is a small, traditional resort on the west of the island with a small harbour and beach.
It is possible to daytrips to Kefalonia, Ithaca and Meganissi from Lefkas on the local ferry in the summer months.

Happy People
It's our last day in Lefkas and wow you nailed our brief completely honey. Just wanted to let you know we've had a fabulous time so thanks again for everything you did for us. The team have booked three very different holidays for me, two for a couple and one for a group of nine. They listened to our requirements and used their expert knowledge of Greece to provide us with several options from which to choose. I found them to be very professional, nothing is too much trouble and they strive to find a good deal. I would not hesitate to recommend them. The business has booked me a few different holidays ranging from 2 weeks away in the sun to City Breaks. They have a great knowledge and understanding of your needs and requirements when booking a holiday. They always try to accommodate your budget and work extremely hard to get you what you're asking for. They have an extremely good knowledge of the Greek Islands and never fail when recommending specific places. I would always recommend the team as they are helpful and professional at all times. |
