Flights to Kythnos
Kythnos does not have an airport so we recommend flying into Athens and transferring by ferry from there. Athens Airport has direct flights from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle Luton, Edinburgh and Stansted.
Ferries to Kythnos
The ferries for Kythnos will operate either from Piraeus or Lavrion. We will advise which ferries match in best with your flight times.

Easily overlooked.............
If you are on the slow ferry from Athens on the Western Cyclades line, a question might be should we get off at the first stop? The island concerned is Kythnos and is a mere 2 - 2.5 hours from Lavrion or Piraeus and is another one of those islands where you question yourself - why is it not better known?
From the moment you step onto the island, you get a sense of familiarity - it's almost like you have been here before. It is such a magical feeling and one which is only possible for those who make the effort to come here.
The island itself has wonderful beaches, picturesque villages and for spa lovers - thermal springs. The capital, Chora (or Messaria) has whitewashed houses, cobbled streets, windmills, churches, cafe's and tavernas.
Heading south you will find the village of Driopida, a real surprise with red tiled houses, a maze of narrow alleys and a serene atmosphere as you relax with a coffee. As you wander the lanes and smell the wild oregano and thyme, you will understand why the name of the island came from the ancient Greek word for 'hide'.
Please be aware that due to ferry and flight timings, a stay overnight in Athens may be required in either direction.
